Here I Go Again on My Own

Well guys, this is it… Damien has left Nova Scotia. We’re on the road now, in Montreal at the moment… It’s been a pretty crappy ride up with little sleep.. We’ll be going right over the top of Toronto today and into Manitoba (?).. We are expecting to arrive in Chestermere, Alberta on Wednesday. Happy Canada’s Day! I’ll miss you guys.
On a side note, I haven’t written on here in a while! A few things have happened… I finished all my exams, Physics was really tough. I then had an awesome prom! You can see a bunch of pics on my flickr account and more on Facebook. I went to the 12:00 showing of Transformers in between there. (Can you say first ones in!!) Finally, I graduated from Dartmouth High School.. So I have to update my about me page. You can see a lot of pics of what I’ve been up to on flickr, at the bottom, and I’ll be putting more and more on there of old things and of the trip.
I’ll keep you guys updated with what I’ve been up to on the trip.. So far some decent things. That’s about it for now!

After the new site went live some CSS Galleries got wind and featured me on their front page! (In other words I begged and begged to be there… So, just quick thank you goes out to these guys! Creamy CSS has me listed there! They are an awesome looking site that features many beautifully designed CSS pages! Vote for me here. cssWOW also has me listed! cssWOW is another quaint site featuring many CSS designed sites. Vote for me here! QNT, a digital arts magazine and web design gallery has mentioned me too! Vote for me here! CSS Garden has me listed too! They are another awesome CSS site featuring only the best! 
Finally, Best CSS Vault has featured my site! These guys post some very nice sites. Vote for me here! Just a few for now, let’s see if any other catch on shall we! 
New iPhone: Not Worth the Upgrade.

So Apple announced their new iPhone, the iPhone 3GS. (S is for speed… clever…) While I was excited for the thought of a new iPhone with nice features, this just doesn’t make the cut for me… While they did add some nice features, I was looking for a little more! The camera is pretty lame. They upgraded 1 megapixel and added an autofocus. It can now handle video as well! However other phones are coming out with 12Mp cameras built it with flash… At least a 5Mp for the iPhone would have been nice.
They also beefed up the speed. About double apparently, which doesn’t really mean much to me until I can get my hands on one of these new iPhones, but as of now this isn’t a huge deal. They also added a faster connection (7.2Mbps down) which is great for us on the Rogers network, but again big woopty doo. Voice control was added, but seriously. Very lame… Finally, a whole two more hours of battery life on WiFi… WOW. Not a deal breaker. If you guys want to impress me, I’d like to see double the battery life. This thing has trouble lasting all day! If you forget to charge it before you sleep you can pretty much expect to not have a working phone the next day. That’s what I wanted most… A larger battery! A removable battery? Nah… But a longer battery life!
The final issue is price. It’s a deal breaker. I’d have to wait a month for a $199 upgrade, or upgrade when it comes out for $399. OUCH. These features are not worth two hundred bucks for me. However, for a new subscriber or user without an iPhone, that is a smoking price! No doubt about it…
Overall, I am going to wait for next year’s iPhone, the iPhone 3GSS (Super Speed), which will launch for just $99, have 32GB of space, 8x the speed and support illegal music downloads right through the device itself! /sarcasm. 
No but really, not interested in the new iPhone 3GS… However, I am very, VERY, excited for iPhone OS 3.0, being released in just over a week! Can’t wait!

This is it! Wave hello to the new Damien’s Portal, version ten for anyone counting! And wave goodbye to the old dark look you’ve grown accustomed to. This refresh is so much easier on the eyes and makes a great summer theme! I trust you all agree with me on that. I don’t think there should be much more I need to say about the theme. Here goes all the posts, to the right you have categories, tags, recent posts, an inspirational quote and a featured article. At the bottom you can find my recently listened to and flickr pictures. Top right is a search bar. You guys aren’t idiots, I’m sure you can figure it all out!
I mentioned previously that you should sign up for a Gravatar account. This links your email address to an image that you upload. From there, a blog or website can connect your email to that image whenever you post a comment! That’s exactly what I’m doing here, if you check out the comments you’ll see exactly what happens… I’d reccommend signing up! It’s quick and easy.
